Happy New Year

31 Dec 2010
New Year, New Blog.

Welcome friends. Each year, I have a tradition of starting a new blog. A tradition that started...um....approximatley one minute ago.

Last year for the five of you that read, "Creative Sprite," it was a series of comic takes on my experiences negotiating my way through this business we call show. You (5 of you) were with me as I transitioned from child roles to teens, from theatre to TV, and from making idiot mistakes like wearing blond wigs to auditions to letting my Jew-fro fly.

Also notable were the blogs "Schmucks and the City," about my dating disasters, "Naughty Muppet,"and The Matzo Ball" which never made it to the Internet superhighway.

So now, Hayley's Comic Comet is about the random moments throughout my day or life which I find hilarious, thought provoking or amusing. New York City can be a tough place to live, or it can be warm and cozy and wonderful. And if I'm not laughing, something is wrong. I take my silliness very seriously

This first entry is a retrospect on my year.

Some things that I did this year
Three reality TV shows.?!!!. (Meisner is rollling in his grave)
Was a recruiter for a Matchmaker
Was a promoter for a Photographer
Finished my reel
Did two Off-Broadway shows
re-did my website
Got a job as a wedding singer
Wrote a screen play
Took some improv classes
Was in a singing improv band
Got a new awesome job:)

And other things as well, maybe not as .....well pressing
Tried to half-heartedly get Larry David to adopt me
Fell in love and got my heart broken
A day later fell in love again with above person who broke my heart
Got this fantastic keratin treatment that changed my life forever
Met about three male versions of myself, and I was terrified.

Things I learned
You can make muppets at FAO Schwartz.
Fun new ways of accessorizing
Not to be afraid of color
How to be camera ready at the drop of a hat
That the human capacity for creativity is vast and huge and plentiful
You have no idea what you are capable of.

Things I watched some of my closest friends do
Get married
Go to grad school
Get pregnant
Have a baby
Move into a new house/apartment
Break up
Get divorced
Quit their job
Start a new business venture
Conceive and write a musical

Things I considered but was talked out of
Auditioning to be the next bachelorette
Going on more reality television
Going on another cruise ship
Buying the double portion version of banannagrams
Repricing my nose

And a funny thing that happened today.

I went to the DMV, and was quite surprised when I didn't have to wait on line for 3 hours. The man was so lovely that we started chatting. I was talking about being an organ donor and said, "Well, why wouldn't I give away my organs. If I'm gone, I won't need them." The man replied, "Great, I'll be at your door at 8 to pick up your spleen."

Thanks for reading my bouillabaisse of musings
Love,
Hayley
